EPIC take down of “Star Wars” prequels. I cried so hard from laughing and wishing they’d never been made.

I just finished watching all of the season 4 episodes of “Friday Night Lights” that are out. Thoughts:

I love that this season is a new direction with a new school and fresh new characters like Luke, Vince, Jess and Becky. Always good casting. New red uniforms. Go East Dillon Lions!
This season focuses a little more on class/race issues in towns like Dillon. The redistricting with Tammi plot is riveting for me. I have a soft spot for political plot lines, especially since this one clashes so much with Dillon football mania. The height of this wasn’t just the fallout from Tammi moving West Dillon star Luke Cafferty but rather when she went out on the field during practice and told him he had to go. When Luke started crying, we were reminded that part of football (especially as related to class) is that kids try to use it to get out of towns like Dillon and Luke thought he was losing his shot. Maybe he does. If “FNL” has thought us anything is even great players that leads teams to state (Matt, Riggins) don’t make it past high school ball.
I remember the houses of each character and it’s always appropriate. The homes of the new characters are also distinctive, like Becky’s house with the trailer in the back. We haven’t seen Jess’ I don’t think, but I love her Dad’s BBQ place. Vince Howard’s apartment complex looks like a motel (maybe it is). Luke works on a farm! I teared up when Tinker showed up in the middle of the night to help him fix the fence and told his father how great Luke was. (Luke’s dad isn’t coming off as a bad guy, but I think his need for Luke to help on the farm is good dramatically and it’s alluded to when Tammi tells Luke he can move to West Dillon and he says “That isn’t going to happen.”) It’s during scenes like those on the Cafferty farm that I applaud “FNL” for actually shooting in Texas. Beautiful.
I like that Vince (the main African-American player) isn’t just another Smash. He’s quiet. Unlike Smash with his supermom, Vince has had to raise himself. He’s initially a lot more hostile to other players and has a lot less experience than Smash. I like how he ends up being more loyal to Luke than those assholes in West Dillon.
Speaking of which, how funny is it that West Dillon Panther end up being assholes this season. Of course this juggernaut of years of success if turning out bratty players! (I love how Matt slams the door on JD and his evil dad when they come to the funeral reception.) And the Lions lose, a lot! Coach Taylor has so much to work with!
I like how “FNL” cycles out old cast members, though Street took a little too long to get to a good wrap-up. Matt’s story was so sad and yet so relieving. Lyla floated in and out like a dream, which is probably what would have happened. Seeing Smash on TV briefly was satisfying. I can’t wait for Tyra! And, yeah, Riggins would be living in a trailer in Dillon.
I loved the pep rally when they dug up old East Dillon Lions—all of whom love Buddy (Buddy changes Dillon teams, yes!!). Jess’ dad Mr. Merriweather is a nice minor character: a former player who got burned and now hates football.
Gracie Bell’s head is now as big as Landry’s.

…enjoy this new FX clip for Justified (formerly Lawman), premiering in March. It’s a trailer, rather than the cool extended scene we saw last fall (which is no longer available for embedding), but I’m excited anyway. Cowboy hats, Walton Goggins and rockets!
